How to Update Browsers to the Latest Version in Windows 11

Nov 12, 2025

Keeping your web browser up to date is one of the easiest ways to improve security, performance, and compatibility. Every new release often brings important security patches, bug fixes, and feature enhancements. In Windows 11, you can update most major browsers in just a few clicks. This article walks you through updating Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox to their latest versions.

Update Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge is tightly integrated into Windows 11 and updates automatically via Windows Update. To ensure you’re on the latest version:

1. Open Settings (Win + I) and select Windows Update.

2. Click Check for updates.

3. If a new Edge build is available, Windows Update will download and install it alongside system updates. After the update completes, restart your PC if prompted.

 Update Microsoft Edge in Settings.

Alternatively, to verify or trigger a manual check inside Edge:

1. Launch Edge. Click on the three dots in the top-right corner of the screen.

2. Go to Help and feedback

3. Click About Microsoft Edge. Then it will start updating.

Update Google Chrome

Chrome also handles updates in the background, but you can force a manual check:

1. Open Chrome. Click the three-dot menu at the top right.

2. Scroll down to find Help and choose About Google Chrome.

3. Chrome will check for updates and install them automatically. Once the update is ready, click Relaunch to apply it.

Scroll down to find Help and choose About Google Chrome.

4. Restart the browser once the updates are done. Alternatively, you could click on the Relaunch icon.

Another way to quickly update the Chrome browser is through the address bar. Here are the steps:

1. Open the Chrome browser

2. Type chrome://settings/help in the Omnibox

3. Press the Enter key. Then, Chrome will open the About Chrome page directly and start checking for updates.

 Type chrome://settings/help in the Omnibox.

Update Mozilla Firefox

Firefox is the second-most popular browser in the market. You can update it manually by following this:

1. Open Firefox and click the three horizontal lines at the top right.

2. Choose Help> About Firefox.

Choose Help> About Firefox to update Firefox.

3. A small window opens and Firefox begins checking for updates.

4. If an update is found, it downloads immediately.

5. Click Restart to update Firefox to the newest version.

Conclusion

Regularly updating your browser on Windows 11 helps protect you from malware, speeds up your browsing experience, and ensures compatibility with today’s websites. Whether you use Edge, Chrome, or Firefox, the steps above take just minutes but deliver long-term benefits.
