Jul 8, 2025

Enabling Processor Performance Boost Mode in Windows can significantly improve your system’s responsiveness and speed, especially when running demanding applications or games. This feature dynamically increases your processor’s frequency beyond its base clock when needed, helping your CPU  deliver more power for intensive tasks.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to enable this feature through power plan settings and the Registry Editor in Windows 11.

Steps to enable Processor Performance Boost mode

Step 1. Open Registry Editor

Press Win + R on your keyboard, and enter regedit in the dialog box.

Step 2. Navigate to the key

In the window of Control Panel, navigate to Hardware and Sound > Power Options. From there, click the Change plan settings option for the plan you’re selecting currently.

Then, click Change advanced power settings to open the Power Options window.

Expand Processor power management from the list by double-clicking it, and then keep expanding Processor performance boost mode in it.

Choose both Enabled modes for On battery and Plugged in, and click Apply then OK to exit.

Final Tips

  • Use Aggressive mode for maximum performance, but note it may lead to higher power consumption and temperature.
  • Use Efficient Enabled mode on laptops for a balance between performance and battery life.
